“Gold, Migration and Modernity: ‘The Poison of Polygamy” at ICAS 11

This 2019 iteration of the International Convention of Asia Scholars was held in the quaint university town Leiden, in the Netherlands. It was the second ICAS conference at which I spoke about The Poison of Polygamy, but on this occasion I had on hand a copy of the finished book, which Sydney University Press had kindly ferried ahead for my collection in Amsterdam. It was a pleasure to deliver the presentation with historian Dr. Michael Williams, who had conceived of the republication project and approached me to write the translation.
